This has been taken care of. Upon review of the tech sheets, I found that a
current Tyco head guard replaced one which was listed for use with the
sprinkler Model needed.
Lesson learned: Call mfr tech support, but do research yourself.

How essential to successful sprinkler operation can a head guard be?  I
think you'll be find if you use a head guard from Tyco or Argco.
