I did, this is for a change. We have a hydrant 125'-0 away from the proposed FDC location. The Fire Marshall will not accept this because of parking, etc. will also increase the hose lay. So in my change I was wanting to note the code, and now with the help of all who assisted through the forum, I can continue.

If the AHJ enforces the IFC [or other code with similar provisions] it may affect your placement: (2006) IFC 912.1 states "Fire department connections shall be installed in accordance with the NFPA standard applicable to the system design AND shall comply with Sections 912.2 through 912.6." One example of a situation to avoid is the one covered by section 912.2 [location] which requires "With respect to hydrants, driveways, buildings and landscaping, fire department connections shall be so located that fire apparatus and hose connected to supply the system will not obstruct access to the buildings for other fire apparatus. The location of fire department connections shall be approved." i.e. Designing the FDC on one side of the busy highway to connect to the hydrant on the other side of the highway probably won't fly, no matter the distance required by NFPA... NFPA 14 - Has a requirement. 6.4.5.4: Fire department connections shall be located not more than 100 ft (30.5 m) from the nearest fire hydrant connected to an approved water supply.
