The spec requires a FPE stamp, we asked if a PE stamp would do and were
turned down.
I will leave it in the capable hands of the salesman who missed this
item. I was just trying
to get him some FPE leads to call.
Thanks for everyone's help.

May want to look closely at this. Many times the military REQUIRES an
FPE. This may have been taken care of by the architectural team but if
the job is design build, is the general looking to you to provide? We
get calls all the time asking if we can provide a FPE stamp for military
projects all over the country where the contractor bid the work and then
realized the requirement. Seldom does this work as most of the time they
are looking for a rubber stamp but we have contracted to be the EOR and
become part of their team. Funny thing is that many military projects
that are design bid build require any PE stamp but many of the design
build projects require the FPE.

I'm glad you said that, because the military is generally exempt from
local building codes and local registration wouldn't be required- as I
understand it. We are, however, doing a project now for a military
foundation on a military complex, and we're giving copies of our system
to the locals, but its lip service.

As for PE qualifications? You're right, that horse has been pulverized
so many times, its too close to lunch in many parts of the country to
describe.

I'd be interested in feedback from the AHJs in the group, but I think
every REQUIRED sprinkler system must have a P.E. stamp, unless a
jurisdiction has amended the code to permit NICET or other stamping.
Although the code permits a deferred submittal, I don't think this means
no stamp is necessary. We could go into P.E. qualifications and
capabilities here but my intent is not to start this discussion anew.

With regard to military projects, I believe any P.E. stamp is acceptable
unless the project specifications state a local stamp is necessary.

Anyone know of a FPE registered in Wisconsin? We have a military
project here which requires a FPE stamp.
If so, please forward me the information off forum.
Thanks,
