For a sprinkler system in a real Bldg. Information Model you would be able to click on a sprinkler pipe and be referred to additional information which could include the contractor installation drawings, system calculations, equipment/component shop drawings, testing records, activation or repair records, basically anything related to the installation or operation of that system since it was installed. The BIM is a live model/database that is constantly updated with new information. So imagine what it would be like to have this and more for every type of system in the facility. This is the ultimate goal and level of a BIM, right now the software available is not consistent as one package offers one level of info and another offers other info. This is a new tool that is still in the development phase.

Please elaborate on this. I think that I know what you're talking about. How would a Detail Level 5 effect a sprinkler plan?
