4-way bracing is required on all risers over 3 ft in length. A riser is
defined as a vertical supply pipe. I assume you are wondering if a sprig needs
to be 4-way braced if it is over 3 ft. in length? A sprig is a vertical supply
pipes but it is also defined separately so I would say no you would not need to
brace and sway bracing is required only on BLs that are greater than 2 in dia.
so I would say that would apply to the sprigs because a sprig is a BL by
definition.

Now a RN over 3 ft. in length just going by the definitions looks like it would
need to be braced.

Might want to check the archives cuz I think this was hashed out a couple of
years ago??

Subject: 4-WAY BRACES

Forum-
What is the general consensus about putting 4-way braces on "any" vertical
pipe that is over 3 feet long? I was under the impression it was for Risers
only, is that not the case?

Thanks!
