We are currently in the process of protecting both. If the owner would put sheetrock or metal where they first overlap it would not be a question and protection would not be required, the only logical reason for putting heads in this particular space would be so heat doesn't fill the void and delay operation of the other heads. There is nothing to protect otherwise.

As a starting point is the old building sprinklered? Considering that both structures likely constitute a SINGLE building such things have to be considered.

We have a new metal building that is being built such that the roof overlaps an existing metal roof therefore leaving an uninhabited, non-combustible, triangular shaped space that is open to the interior of the new building. This space is approximately 30' in depth, about 3' high where the overlap starts and goes to 0" eventually where the roofs actually meet.

What do we do?
Thanks,
Greg
