The problem as I see it is that even 120GPM thru 1-1/4"K copper has a
pressure loss of about 1-PSI/LF. How far from Bld. To Main?
1) Over 50LF tell GC can't do it with existing service.
2) Restaurant is a LH occupancy with areas of OH protection so you need only
1/2 Hr. (30Min supply min.) So a 5000 Gallon storage tank( No hose
allowance) and Listed 150 Gpm Pump like a TALCO URL-150 @ 7.5/10HP now you
can get this in single Ph, but it will be a 230v/50amp load, not to mention
the tank heater of 100 to 150amps depending on your location. (GC got that
kind of extra Elect. Capacity?)
3) Floor space. Now a set up like the URL-150 is only 72"x31" you still need
36" clear in front of it so it's more like 6'x 6'plus connection space.
Where does he want to put that? In the kitchen? Or maybe in the walk-in? How
about that 12' x 12' x 12' tank in the parking lot or loading dock area up
against the building where the pump is located?
4) Has he asked the alarm contractor how much his extra is going to be? How
about the concrete guy for the foundation for the tank? Or the excavator to
dig the tank foundation? How about those extra permits?

If he's truly concerned about TIME, have him put in the larger underground
NOW! Or just write you a Blank check, and you'll get the back to him when
you finish with the total you spent! CASH in advance always works best,
because after the fact, it will be your fault it cost the owner so much
extra. He'll forget that it would have been about $50.00 LF to install 4"
C-900 + $2500 for the wet tap, vs. $35,000 for his tank and pump decision.

This guy has NO clue and just wants it to be someone else's problem. If he's
going to make it yours, make sure to get your money up front!
