Sorry for the mix-up, I was referring to the pressure tanks as the stored
'volume'. The well's pump has enough psi but only about 1/2 the required gpm
rating - so by itself it's inadequate. The owner has several pressure tanks
totaling in the 300 gallon range. So the stored volume is there.

The way I'm seeing this, someone correct me if I'm wrong, NFPA's formula for
pressure tanks (assuming 2/3 proportion of air/water) would mean 75 psi air
is needed for a 45 psi sprinkler working pressure.
