Knowing this is a bit out of topic I still would like to ask the question.
Has anyone dealt with automatic WON fire doors at egress stairwells where
the fire department would expect to come out of the stairwell with hoses
attached to the standpipe system in the stairwell? If so would you provide
some particulars regarding the setup? Basically think of a typical
stairwell without any wall at the floor landing but where there is an
automatic horizontal fire door that would be trying to close on whatever
hose comes out of the stairwell. Furthermore the Won door height would be
almost to the ceiling since someone is trying for an open look. (I guess
they want to see the beautiful standpipe system there is not room enough to
conceal.) With the tall door there would not be much of a smoke stop if that
is what happens at a normal stairwell. My initial take is that this is a bad
idea, but perhaps there is an established way to do this.

Thank you,
