I lived by the shore for only 3 months back in the AC casino craze, '79, so
limited experience.

Wouldn't the air in a basement or a conditioned space in a seaside building all
have salt air in it?
I know there are de-salinization plants, but that's not to pull salt from air!

So how do you get salt-free air down at the shore (or at the beach for you left
coasters)?
Would a regenerative air dryer remove salt?
Imagine the sodium chloride molecules are large enough that an N2 generator
would strain these out (membrane style).

There are a couple of nursing homes down here that have had pipe failure
problems in the attic and both have been in salt air environments. Pin hole
leaks as you describe. This was sch 10, however and there may have been
pitching problems as well. I never did a full replacement on either because
they didn't like the price. I don't remember if the air source from the
compressor was in a conditioned space or just a basement.
