I'm trying to let this one die, but I just fundamentally disagree. It's an
elementary school MP room with a 9' or lower ceiling that's 15' deep from the
curtain to the back of the platform. There are NO compartments adjacent, only
storage rooms with closing doors (protected for OH) and stairs that go up the
sides. There is about 4' of promontory out in front of the curtain and risers
down from there to the floor of the seating area, which can be used for choir
of other assemblages of students (or adults, I suppose). There is no
reasonable or imaginable way that they can stuff this platform with enough fire
load to make a compelling argument for any use but spoken word, musical and
other similar low impact presentations.

You've spoken to my original question, which was whether or not the horizontal
"main curtain" is tantamount to an "overhead hanging curtain", and you seem to
be saying it is.

Roland agree on the codes and fun part. However as tom beringer said in
platoon.. You want reality I am reality....and the reality of this is that
steves platform/stage/duck can and will be used down the line as a working
stage with stuff (like your word BIG fire load) hanging, attached sitting etc
etc. Like arc fault electrical devices codes take liberties in assuming that
bad things might occur givin the opportunity. We live in a world of
probabilities and down the line the curtain on steves duck means its probably
going to be used a stage. If that wasn't the case they would be willing to do
away with the curtain and end this jaunt. But theyre not because they know
exactly what the ducks going to be used for. PS taken literally most curtains
part in the middle meaning there's TWO of them as in PLURAL, oh boy.

I would say the PLURAL on curtain (as well as the indication of the
overall description) means a working stage with a big fire load
overhead and not a single curtain at the front. Wouldn't that also be
the more accurate LITERAL interpretation.

Having said that, I think we've said all there is to say about this
issue except Isn't Working with the Codes Fun.
