It is allowed if done per NFPA 13 (2010) Section 9.1.1.2 as indicated in Annex A.9.1.1.7. Additionally, pilot line piping can be supported from the system it serves per Section 8.14.10 and NFPA 15 (2010) Section 6.5.1.5.
