I had a similar job not long ago - manufacturing plant with a paint booth
and a blast booth built next to it. The owner had a fit when we tried to
design sprinklers in it; as they blast in the room, the room had a system
that reclaimed the pellets through the floor and back to a separate room to
be reused. They said any type of moisture gets in that system and the system
would have to be reworked and all of the pellet material would have to be
replaced. After they discussed this with the insurance company and AHJ, they
all agreed not to put fire sprinklers in there - per their direction, we
only did the overhead and the paint booth. I'm sure they had to come up with
something different.

Paint removal, like a sand blast. But I believe they use some type of
pellets now, not sand.

Out of curiosity... what is/what do they do with a "blast booth"?

Air Force Baser hanger Blast Booth. Would the requirements for fire
protection fall under NFPA, UFC, or IFC code? Or all three? Which one
addresses the design requirements?
