Admitting fresh water into an infected system is like turbo-charging the bugs.
Recirculating water in closed system is a very good way to lower the risk of
both new infections and feeding old ones.

Accelerate MIC? I thought all fresh water did was create a potential exposure
for a new case. If you already got MIC fresh water doesn't accelerate it, does
it? Semantics I suppose to your point about reducing MIC whether reducing
acceleration or exposure.

These folks came to an SFPE meeting years ago. LEED and water weren't as high
a priority then and they seemed only for highly specialized cases. Say where
you had 100's of flow switches. But with what I'm hearing about a few states
not allowing sprinkler water to hit the ground might be worth looking into for
more cases. I'm still leery though. I have found rocks in two systems by
noticing weak streams at the ITV outlet. Switch operated but you could tell
something wasn't right.

It is interesting that they don't make a claim about reducing fresh water to
the system and accelerating MIC. I thought that was the primary advantage.
Maybe that is the expectation but they want to close the liability question.

There has been some interest, especially our environmental folks, in using the
Zonecheck devices for the testing of water flow alarms. See attached
link: http://www.systemsensor.com/pdf/A05-0272.pdf

Can anyone offer any pros and cons with respect to using these devices? It
looks like they would be a good product to ensure that the flow switches will
work when called upon.

Thanks in advance.
