In Nashville two weeks ago the installation committee voted that if the
sprinkler wasn't removed from the fitting it was installed into and was handled
with care, then it could be reused (Remove the drop). Also, a dry sprinkler can
be removed and then reinstalled provided the wrench was used on the barrel and
not the sprinkler. However this has not been balloted officially so it could
change. You will be able to submit comments on this matter next spring during
the comment stage.

My opinion only and not that of NFPA.

I can't imagine what the opinion of the marketing geniuses for head making
companies would be ;) . I wonder if any were on a committee or two?

NEW sprinklers are susceptible to damage in the back of the delivery truck on a
hot summer afternoon.
My gut tells me lawyers and insurance companies have annual meetings at the
same time and in the same hotel.

H
ave we sufficient evidence that it is the reinstalled heads are the ones
accidently discharging?

It just seems like a waste to throw a 20 dollar head away because you have to
remove and reinstall.....or even a 3 dollar head.

We WILL comply with code, but I strongly disagree.
