As George was fond of saying (I believe the original quote was by Roland).
"ESFR is not a sprinkler system it's a building system" that may not be the
exact quote but it's close.

Thanks, Brad & Ron. I thought moving the heater may be the only answer. Though
how you can do that with a 10'x10' ESFR spacing beats me.

There is really no reason to use 165's, we use only 212's. I'm not aware of any
286F ESFR's but I haven't really look for them either. AFSA has great sprinkler
head chart on their web site. And George was right, usually the unit heaters
have to be moved because of the spacing limitations of ESFR's. It takes a lot
of coordination early on in the project to prevent obstructions. We have the
best results when we're on board before the structural design is completed.

Subject: ESFR sprinklers

Using k=25.2 ESFR sprinklers at the ceiling in a storage application
calculating 12 heads as per NFPA 13,

(1) Can the heads be 165 deg.F or must they be 212 deg.F? (assuming no heat
sources)
(2) If there is a heat source, such as a unit heater, are there ESFR heads
rated for 286 deg.F? I see only 165 & 212.

Thanks,

Tony
