I was always under the impression that you could use a standard spray
pendent/upright anywhere, and that it was the designers option to use the
CCS sprinklers or just a standard spray pendent/upright.  (NFPA 2007 8.4.1.1
"upright and pendent spray sprinklers shall be permited in all occupancy
hazard classifications and building construction types.)
