I am in the early stage of Sprinkler design for a new Research Cow Barn and
Milking Parlor.

It is a Wood Frame Structure with a 4:12 pitich roof. The barn and milking
parlor both have finished ceilings at [13'-6] above a concrete slabs.

The Barn and Milk Parlor are to be equipped with Ventilation equipment
consisting of 6- 30,000 CFM, 1 - 86,000 CFM directional flow circulation
fans mounted/suspended at the ceiling, 4 - 72" wall mounted exhaust fans at
one end of the barn.

Also there are 14 automatically actuated ceiling air inlets in the cow barn
and another 8 manually actuated inlets in the Milking parlor.

There is no indication on the Electrical or Mechanical Bid Documents that
the ventilation system is tied into the Fire Alarm Panel. I have submitted a
RFI to the General Contractor asking just this question.

My question to you is, In a warehouse the ventilation system is tied in to
the fire alarm for shutdown. Shouldn't this Research Cow Barn be treated the
same way?

Thank you in advance.
