The grid is what he said.

Is the inspector meaning the grid, or the cross piece that connects to the grid
and restrains the head.

When these first moved out of the clean-room hood use to office use we found
sprinkler companies using just the escutcheon.

don't you dare. The construction of the ceiling grid is not in your scope
of work. That is someone else's responsibility.
C635, and it's equally challenging C636 are either met by the installation
of the ceiling, or they aren't. I'd ask for proof from the ceiling installer.

No to the seismic and I just looked at 9.2.1.3.3.2.

Now I have to look at ASTM C635.

Is this a project with siesmic requirements ? If so the ceiling does have to
have supports but that is not the sprinkler contractors requirement.
