    I would refer the fire marshal to NFPA 13, 2016, 6.1.1.5:

   6.1.1.5 Components that do not affect system performance such as
   _*drain piping*_, drain valves, and signs _*shall not*_ be required
   to be listed

I have a system where we have connected to the drain provided by the plumbers, but they provided ABS pipe. Now the Fire Marshal is citing these drains as deficiencies.
