I have an existing hospital where they are building a new 4 story addition that will require manual-wet standpipes. The problem arises is that we are using an existing common feed riser which has a control valve on it in the fire pump room. I know this violates section 6.4.1 (NFPA 14 – 2010ed) for no control valves between the FDC and standpipe system. Is there anything the precludes me from installing an additional FDC on the new addition to use the existing feed and satisfy 6.4.1?
