I'm picturing perpendicular to mean "across" the joist, not up the slope, correct? Also, the min. 5'-0" dimension from the eave is kinda goofy, if I come in 5' from each eave at a corner it puts the head right on the Hip. I only do about (1) wood framed job a year so each time it's like starting over, any pointers from you attic experts? And unfortunately the roof span is too wide to use attic heads....
