Having a discussion with a designer concerning a manifolded riser assembly which has a dry pipe system and wet pipe system as shown in 2013 NFPA 13, Figure A.8.16.1.1. The question is the purpose of the check valve in the portion below the split at the manifold. Their FDC is piped in accordance with the detail. The designer says the check valve in the vertical is not needed because they are on a non-potable water supply and they have a PIV outside.
