Interesting. I have some gauges that are probably 15+ years old and they all 
check out in recalibration and never vary that much from year to year. Some, 
but not all, came from a contractor that closed up and I bought all of their 
test equipment. They did a lot of pump tests but never had a high rate of gauge 
failure. Admittedly, 90% of my gauges are upper end Ashcroft.
  

  
Have you tried to have any of them re-calibrated?
  

  
In answer to your original question, I have never used a snubber. If I did, I 
would consider having the calibration done with the snubber attached.
