A system is being installed for a liquor retailer, mainly to secure product due to thefts. They get the product from the Autostore after the purchase.

Autostore has a fire protection document to assist you in design. The jurisdiction I work for is also requiring a PE stamp for the design. There’s other fire features required by the fire code for storage. The document references ESFR protection and this system does have open top containers which contradicts ESFR criteria. Their fire tests indicate ESFR is effective although the uses ESFR sprinklers.

The system proposed is only 9 ft high and $4K sf.

Has anyone designed an ESFR system for the automated robotic storage system know as Autostore? Seems to be very little info and NFPA doesn't really address this type of storage arrangement.  Any info would be welcomed.
