What did you tell him? My understanding is that you perform 2 tests: one with PLD enabled and another with PLD disabled.

Have a diesel driven fire pump that has a PLD pressure limiting driver. When it comes to the annual flow test, how do I test this properly per Nfpa? Would this be tested as a variable speed pump per nfpa? I know on start up you disable the PLD to test and set relief valve pressure. On annual flow test the net pressure is low because RPMs are limited. Do I disable the PLD for the test to compare with pump data plate? OR use RPM correction formula with PLD on? OR test as a variable speed pump? Sorry first PLD pump for me this is cool stuff just want to make sure I test it right. Not finding much info on PLD PUMPS 8n nfpa. Ps called the manufacturer they could not help with annual testing requirements. Mike Watts Sprinkler Service Manager Firetrol Protection Systems 4616 W.
