I have a client that is building a retail store in an area with no public
water supply. Sprinkler water will be supplied by pump and tank. My estimate is
for 20000 gallons. The client want to use 4 - 5500 gallon concrete tanks
connected in series. My question is what size connections between the tanks
will be required? NFPA 22 doesn’t address this (that I found). An old copy of
the Hydraulic Institute Standards I have states that for piping to suction
pits, keep the velocity below 2 ft/sec. Would this be a reasonable number?
