I have an intermittent problem starting 2.1.13.1 Spyder on Ubuntu 13.04. I think the issue is that it does not close properly as I can see the process remaining even after I have closed it. When I try to start it again (even with the --debug flag), it simply hangs. This is the case even after killing the residual spyder processes. I tried following the advice here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/spyderlib/Wg_JwmWL3_E and upgrading ipython and pyzmq but this didn't seem to solve the problem. Also, I tried deleting the configuration files but this didn't help either.
