Fortunately Spyder support for IPython 1.0+ is quite good, and it's
working well with 2.0dev too, so I don't see that too much of a problem.
Besides the next Anaconda release is in February (I stopped to worry
about Ubuntu because they are quite slow to pick up our releases).
It usually takes *me* (aka the current maintainer) a lot of time to do a
new release because I take the opportunity to solve usability and
interface issues and shortcomings I've noticed from the previous one
(which can't be done after we make the release to keep things stable).
And I started to work on them only in October, after I solved the most
important bugs in our stable branch (i.e. 2.2).
So please be patient. I know this is taking more time than initially
planned but it is for a good reason.
Cheers,
Carlos

Maybe it was an error to make python 3 too different than python 2,
but what is done (5 years ago) is done
IPython 2.0 arrives in january and it would be nice to have Spyder 2.3
released enough time before :
- so that python distributions can have it well tested, and include it
day 1,
- everybody upgrading its python distribution will get the refresh.
The list you're pinpointing looks a little different than Carlos
message, but I'll take a look at it.
Thanks.

Is it waited because of Python 3 support?
I think Python 3 is a disaster. =)

ok,
Is there a sort of detailed Todo List (thinking of
github/yhat/ggplot), which could allow the community to help
you accelerate this release so much waited ?

Hi,
There is one major thing I need to do before releasing it:
develop a good way to update our config file because there
are several default options we need to change. Right now
we are not preserving any option saved by the user and
instead we are resetting all our options to their
defaults. I find that quite unpleasant and unintuitive,
and of course in need of fixing.
I hope to have everything ready in a month, month and half
at most.
Cheers,
Carlos

Hi Carlos,
When do you expect to release 2.3 ?
What blocker bugs remain ?

2.3 should work with Python 2.6 but I really haven't

Are there so many things wrong with Python 2.6?
