The path you followed is the hardest one, so no wonder it gave you so
much troubles :-)

So I finally got Spyder to run, but it was not an easy path, pun
intended... This was a clean install from a relatively new lapton. I
installed Python 3.3 32bit on Win7, then PyQt4 32bit for Py3.3, then
pyWin32, setuptools cause it sounded like I would want it, and PIP 1.4
Win32 for Py3.3. All that (apparently) went smoothly. Then I
installed Spyder 2.2.5 win32. Even that was mindless, until at the
very end of the installation process the windows installer hiccuped at
the end of the Post Install Script, saying "Input Error: No Module
Named '__builtIn__' "... ugh.
I will say that early on, I believe it was Python 3.3 that offered to
set a Windows Environment Path, but had defaulted to not doing so. I
tool the default and did not set a Python Path. All of the other
following programs seemed to have no difficulty detecting Python 3.3,
including Spyder. But once Spyder was suppsedly finished with the
installation, it did not offer Start menu choice or any desktop icon.
I could not find any way to get it started. I remembered not setting
the Environment Path, so went into windows to set it, with no lock.
Finally I uninstalled every program and reinstalled them the same,
with the same results. (I will say that the uninstall programs did
not seem to delete every file and I ended up with the exact same
results.) And finally I uninstalled Spyder again and installed the
Spyder 2.3.0beta2 version. But still no easy way to get started...
After more searching the web and creative trial and error I just got
Spyder to load by: at the command prompt, navigating to
"c:\Python33\". And at that prompt, running "python
c:\python33\spyder\spyder.2.3.0beta2\bootstrap.py".
Ugh, not what I was hope was intended. Can anyone point towards what
might have gone wrong? How can I complete the Spyder msi installation
so as to get the desktop icon or start menu icon? Anything else I need
to look at fixing and/or doing over to make this right?
Thanks for you help and guidance.
