First Spyder 2.2.5 is an old version. Version 2.3+ is definitely a better choice. According to the blog below, it is available for 14.04 in the trusty-backports repo.

Install pylint for emacs Is this important? I'm not an emacs user, and don't have emacs installled. Spyder seems to be working. Do I need to do anything? If so, what?
Seems to be a packaging error. Looks like it only applies to pylint support in Emacs. The hint implies that there is a pylint for emacs package that could be installed to resolve the issue.
