okay - so I gave in.
I have spyder working normally with python34 64bit, as default.
I then installed anaconda distribution with python27 64bit, and another
spyder working normally as-well.
A nice feature would be to have one spyder with two iPython
interpretors: one for 27 and one for 34
Not sure how that would work, you still run into the Python environment
problem, as you found out when there was no .spyder2 folder created.
This was because when Spyder started up it found itself in the Python
3.4 environment used the Python 3 version of itself and created/used the
.spyder2-py3 folder. Seems the same would apply to the IPython
interpreter. If you try to use the Python 2 version in a Python3
environment it will be 'lost', mainly because it will be fetching code
from the Python 3 site-packages instead of the Python 2. I do not see
this working without isolated environments.

I have spyder working normally with Python34. I have a .spyder2-py3
folder.
With Python34 working I have installed Python27 and want to get a
separate spyder working with 27, as-well as 34.
I tried to install Spyder for 27 via pip e.g. at CMD prompt
C:\Users\name>C:\Python27\Scripts\pip.exe install spyder
I do not have a .spyder2 folder. How do I get spyder working with
Python27?
