I'm sorry but I don't recognize your Python installation. Please a more
standard installation (such as Anaconda or WinPython, both of which come
with Spyder :-)

I assume that the above is related to Spyder's malfunction. How
could I fix that? I don't want to stop using Spyder,
hands down the best Python IDE in my opinion.

sources, to no avail.

Hi Carlos,
As I wrote, I had Python 2.7.8 and Spyder working fine, but then I
upgraded Python to 2.7.11 and Spyder stopped working.
I tried to reinstall (build) Spyder from the source, to no avail.
I have no idea what this error message means. I'm just reporting what
happened.
