[SL] templates

I am a little confused about templates, specifically about the one for 
purchase orders. It looks like it is not complete - particularly in the 
area for eschange rate.
I tried entering data and got an error message.
When I look at the examples on the web-site, I find 2 versions - the 1.8.7, 
which looks like what I have; and 1.9.1 which has a template quite 
different from 1.87 and appears more complete.
I don't understand - am I supposed to modify the template?
