The name of the book was either DTS Programming or SQL Server 2000 DTS Programming. It
is a red Wrox book. Aren't all the
Wrox books red? :-) I found it a Barnes & Noble in the SQL section. More than 99% of
us want to know about DTS. So it
should answer your questions.
I think the Network Admin tool you want is a 'sniffer'. I think you need a NA to
understand what you see.
If click on Import or Export in SQL Server 2000, then a Wizard walks you through
creating a simple DTS package.
Programming in DTS is iconic. Each icon is some VB code. Optionally, you can click
into that code. If you know VB, you
could change it. I would defer to that book about any API for DTS.
