Hi Mike, Your name sounds familiar... I think I remember you from my old HTML Writers Guild days... Maybe not. On to your question:
TABLE: dbo.Album albumid (int) identity (1,1) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY Albumname varchar 255 Companyid (int) // this is the link to the company table Artistid (int) // this is the link to the artist table (other fields) In the example you provided above; Companyid and Artistid are foreign keys. That is to say; you are referencing the primary key of tables dbo.COMPANY and dbo.ARTIST, within table dbo.Album -- to form a relationship between the 3 tables. Since those keys are not native to dbo.Album, they are considered foreign keys. ______________________________________________________________________ Signup for the Fusion Authority news alert and keep up with the latest news in ColdFusion and related topics. http://www.fusionauthority.com/signup.cfm Archives: http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/index.cfm?sidebar=lists
