Have you seen David Medinets' proof of concept procs? (www.mtolive.com/ntm)

You should be able to create an insert proc, then write a CF script to build
your tree using the old model and loop over it inserting as you go.  May be
a little work, but should do the trick.  The long run payoff will be
substantial.
