I think there was some confusion about what was being proposed. We weren't proposing refactoring SQLAlchemy, which certainly would hold up your progress for an unknown benefit. Regardless of the repository, this is really intended as an extraction, and probably from more projects than just SQLAlchemy. If SQLAlchemy later finds that extracted library useful, then great, you might want to do some refactoring or adapting to make use of it, but no one is expecting that to happen now or on any particular schedule, and SQLAlchemy isn't at a stage where a speculative refactoring makes much sense.
