I've only just caught onto this thread but I have to also ponder and agree... SQLite 
is a great system for what it's
designed for and I'm not too keen on seeing it possibly pushed away from its original 
spirit and into some sort of split
client/server/complex system.  The original simplicity of SQLite is what attracted me 
to it and no doubt many others.

Perhaps a fork into SQL-med or something would be more appropriate and leave SQLite as 
'lite' for the rest.

Just my 2c.
