I can recommend Berkeley DB from Sleepycat Software. It's very high quality, however it's not cheap to license for a commercially sold application, and it doesn't pretend to have any relational features. If you're just looking for a way to read key-value pairs from a database, I have a nice little library I could share with you which sits on top of an SQLite database.
