I don't know what the actual rules are for this group either. Almost any database related topic seems to be tolerated if not enthusiastically embraced. Chris Locke has only been active here since May of this year (and maybe he won't be back now that his problem is solved), so maybe he's unaware of some of (off) topics that have made the rounds. In any case maybe he has a good point in keeping the mailing list strictly on topic.
