Is this a fairly clean installation? Or some old box? What gives "perl -v"? Make sure

I guess you're running OSX 10.10.4? That should be just fine. No
perlbrew needed, it comes with 5.18 (and some 5.16, too) installed. And
adding perlbrew certainly is not going to help to understand what the
problem was...
