hi again... I did a complete reinstall and everything worked perfectly and set up the LMS and control panel to run as administrator. I don't think this was the issue however. I scanned and rescanned the library, without any difficulty. Music played fine across two players I have.
I have narrowed the issue to when I disable the Logitech Spotify plugin (I didn't think this would cause a problem). I deselected Spotify and allowed the server to restart. Music will not play and when I do a rescan the library is deleted. I was going to install the triode version but I have not got that far. I can leave the Logitech plugin in place but I don't want to confuse the family with 2 Spotify plugins in place.
