Yeah that's also an idea , but it would place very high demands on the
sync algorithm to keep the players in sync . I doubt it's good enough .

To clarify , spdiff and toslink do support lossy multichannel like DTS
or ac3 files . Keep the volume at 100% and connect the digital out to an
AV reciever. ( the analog out will ofcourse be just noise )
There is an old tread somewhere about that . You can encapsulate a
DTS/DD stream in a wav or flac file . That's how it's done today if you
want multichannel .
