I think that the Onkyo has both optical and coaxial inputs. You usually have a choice as to how to connect the TV (audio wise) if it is a modern TV it should have an HDMI audio return channel which allows one HDMI cable to be used for in & out. If it isn't modern then use an optical out from the TV to the Onkyo. Either way you will then get 5.1/DTS delivered to the Onkyo if your source supports it.
As far as LMS is concerned. Use a Pi with Digi+ and connect that to either an optical or coaxial input (HDMI for Jivelte is optional. I wouldn't bother personally but ...) I have a similar Onkyo -> Samsung TV Sky HD box connected to the Onkyo via HDMI PS3 to Onkyo via HDMI HDMI out from Onkyo to TV SB3 connected to Onkyo by coaxial & analogue (for Zone 2) TV has no audio return so I also have an optical from the TV to Onkyo If I watch a TV programme (not via Sky) then I choose AUX which is the optical in. The TV stereo gets delivered to Onkyo. If I plug say an Apple TV to HDMi 2 on TV and play that the 5.1/DTS goes through the TV via HDMI2/optical to Onkyo *Vortexbox LMS 7.8 music on QNAP TS419p via NFS* iThingys/iPeng/Tablets *Living Room* - SB3 -> Onkyo TS606 - > Celestion Ditton F20s - Zone 2 -> Sony TA FE 320 -> Sennheiser RS 130 & B&W P7 *Office* - RPi -> Sony TA FE320 -> Celestion F10s / SB3 -> Onkyo CRN 755 -> Wharfedale Modus Cubes *Dining Room* -> SB Boom *Kitchen* -> UE Radio (upgraded to SB Radio) *Bedroom (Bedside)* - SB Touch -> Topping TP21 -> AKG Headphones *Bedroom (TV)* - Amazon Fire TV (SB Player) -> Topping TP20 -> Wharfedale Modus Cubes ------------------------------------------------------------------------ d6jg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44051 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105163 _______________________________________________ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
