thanks gary. I have tried to do full rescans and they have just hung up as well. There is one running now which has been running for several hours.. I have shut down and rebooted as well. Tomorrow I may try a different version-7.8 or 7.9 to see what happens.
Check your log files. Did you recently add/update some music files? Most likely it's a data change which causes the problem. Or some artwork file. The log file would hopefully give us more information.
