Hi wildgoose, Our installs of Max2Play's LMS instance (7.9 nightly) have run successfully and without problems for long periods of time, both on the RPi2 and on the RPi3. As DJanGo mentioned, the Pi3 would be preferable. However, a Pi 2 model B can get the job done, too. Feel free to check out our images. The download and the Squeezebox Server installer are both free.
