As an app developer myself I can tell you that trial versions on the stores besides what Apple and Google offer (Apple allows you to return any app for 14 days which should be enough time to try) are really hard to do. I'm not sure about Google but Apple doesn't allow you to make an App with a limited lifetime. So you can't take away functionality from users after a trial period. You'd have to do a separate app but how do you do an app that reduces functionality enough from a full version so that people still buy the real thing and at the same time has enough functionality so that you can really test how the full app would work?
