Just some more information so I don't forget: I've run into an issue
where LMS would keep waiting for one of the synced players' audio data
queue to drain:

The linked bug report
(http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=14117) specifically
mentions the SliMP3 - which I was using in this case. So I'm not even
sure this is relevant to your problem. But I wanted to leave the finding
here.
Next I'm going to run a test just with the Radio and the SB1.
