leave sort by blank, and do not tick "numeric" Now you have a column that shows the value of compilation. Obviously, in your case it should be blank. But you want to add the value of "1" (without the "") to the tracks that are part of a compilation. Note that you only want the COMPILATION tag to exist for the tracks where you have assigned a "1". Otherwise the tag shouldn't exist (that is, do NOT have compilation tag with a value of "0"). Then go to TOOLS > OPTIONS > Tag Panel. Enter Compilations as one of the items (do do this, click on the little page/star icon, then enter COMPILATION as NAME and FIELD. In view, make sure you tick "tag panel" so you see it. Then load up all your files in mp3tag and somehow limit it to the tracks that are part of compilation (you can you filter on ARTIST or ALBUM ARTIST = various, our sort on the ARTIST column, etc. Then select all these files you want to add compilation to, and in the compilation value on your tag panel to the left of screen, enter a value of 1, then save. Now all these files have a tag called COMPILATION with a value of 1.
